President Obama at the U.N.

Today, President Obama stood in solidarity with the state of Israel -- just as he did two weeks ago when he intervened to save Israeli diplomatic personnel in Cairo, and as he has done throughout his presidency.
In front of a gathering of member states at the United Nations, the President forcefully rejected the Palestinian choice to pursue a U.N. resolution rather than negotiate with Israel. Instead, the President told the truth -- that the only way to solve this 60+ year conflict is through direct negotiations:
"Peace will not come through statements and resolutions at the United Nations -- if it were that easy, it would have been accomplished by now. Ultimately, it is the Israelis and the Palestinians who must live side by side. Ultimately, it is the Israelis and the Palestinians -- not us -- who must reach agreement on the issues that divide them: on borders and on security, on refugees and Jerusalem."
